Job Description:

Technical –

1. To study the project brief in detail and suggest changes as per the client’s requirements in

coordination with the project design and project management teams.

2. To agree on the control philosophy of the HVAC system and prepare a concept document for thesame.

3. To support the project design team in working on area zoning, air heating unit (AHU) zoning, temperature, and relative humidity (RH) requirements for client approval.

4. To gather data from various departments, namely projects, process, utility, and electrical, for heat load estimation in the assigned projects.

5. To supervise and analyse the heat load calculation and support the reporting engineers in completing the task with the required accuracy.

6. To be able to calculate and check the utility calculations required for HVAC.

7. To thoroughly review the heat load calculation, identify any major or minor issues related to client or project team considerations, and discuss changes as needed.

8. To finalise the heat load calculations for the facility, proceed with HVAC equipment calculations.

9. To support and supervise the equipment calculations based on heat load and space programming for the project, this might involve equipment like, but not limited to, AHUs, cooling and heating coils, ducting, dampers, filter boxes, grills, diffusers, risers, etc.

10. To assist in the design of ducting calculations and duct routing drawings.

11. To verify all the calculations of HVAC equipment and load before allowing to proceed for bills ofquantity (BOQ).

12. To support, supervise, and check the BOQ made by the subordinates in detail before sending it for further approval to the project team and finally to the client.

13. To provide assistance in the preparation of a database of various HVAC equipment, both technically and commercially.

14. To update the database on a regular basis to reduce the time required for designing

15. To assist in the preparation and approval of equipment technical specifications for further sending to the project team and client.

16. To prepare the equipment comparative for commercial and technical comparison, place orders with vendors and explain the same to the purchase team for their further action.

17. To verify the design, BOQ, and equipment list before proceeding for detail engineering, this may involve checking the heat load calculations again based on actual loads.

18. To supervise, in coordination with the project design team and other departments, the reflected ceiling plan (RCP) of the project for generating the final drawings.

19. To supervise and approve all the drawings and details received from vendors for all HVAC components for further manufacturing.

20. To assist and organise the factory acceptance test (FAT) of HVAC equipment on a regular basis with the HVAC team in coordination with the purchase and project management departments.

21. To supervise, verify, and approve all detail engineering contract drawings to be executed at the site called the “construction drawings release”.

22. To assist the purchase team and project management team, where needed, for effective decisionmaking on placing orders for HVAC equipment and site labour contracts with scope details.

23. To attend all the site meetings on a regular basis for all HVAC related work in all projects, identify possible issues by forecasting, and resolve site issues on a regular basis. This can be related to duct issues at the site, wrong placements during detail engineering and the release of construction drawings, sizing issues at the site, etc.

24. To supervise the updating of the design and drawings on a regular basis to keep the design data upto-date as per site conditions and changes.

25. To work in coordination with the documentation, qualification, validation, and commission (DQVC) team and the HVAC team to organise the documents as per the requirements of the project.

26. To assist the DQVC team in document collection and de-bottlenecking of issues in the process of the same.

27. To supervise the collection and assist the site team with the creation of as-built drawings and updatethe same in the system.

 

Supervisory and Management:

 

1. To prepare a work plan and work hour list for all new projects allotted to the HVAC department.

2. To update the plan and work hour list on a regular basis and get the same approved by the project team and seniors.

3. To work on forecasting and scheduling based on current workload and team strength in terms of manhours and capability.

4. To guide the management on possible issues related to workload management and technical capacities and come up with a mitigation plan for the same

5. To assign workload to team members as per project requirements and timelines.

6. To coordinate with the project management department for client queries and the submission of documents.

7. To check and approve the workload of subordinates and colleagues for accurate submission of documents required for purchases, client approvals, construction at sites, etc.

8. To control and monitor the work hour report of each team member and take corrective actions based on the discrepancies found.

9. To improve existing efficiency and productivity in the HVAC team, as well as to reduce the manhour requirement per document on a regular basis.

10. To solve technical and personal queries of team members as and when required.

11. To maintain amicable working relationships between subordinates and colleagues to have better productivity at work.

12. To resolve issues and problems as per requirements.

13. To prepare and monitor KRAs for team members and update them on a regular basis.

14. To monitor their own KRA requirements and update them on a regular basis for further discussion with the RM.

15. To be responsible for identifying the training needs of the HVAC team and creating and updating the training plan on a regular basis.

16. To ensure that all the department reports are updated on a timely basis.

17. To ensure that all the documents, internal and external, organised in the DMS system are available as per project requirements and plans.

 

Skills and Knowledge:

 

1. Must have worked in the areas of concept, basic, and detail engineering for HVAC with firm industrial knowledge in this sector.

2. Must be familiar with American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) guidelines for HVAC and International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) guidelines for cleanroom.

3. Must have exposure in the selection of equipment and systems in HVAC for pharmaceutical projects.

4. Should have exposure to site visits at different stages of projects for monitoring the progress.

5. Should be familiar with the various options that are available in HVAC equipment and systems.

6. Should be able to design the system by themselves, including heat load calculation, HVAC classification, AHU zoning, duct design and layout, AHU fan and coil selection based on heat load, and BOQ generation.

7. Should be able to lead his HVAC and cleanroom team.

8. Should be familiar with cleanroom systems and various modular partition systems.

9. Should be familiar in the BOQ estimation of cleanroom systems.

10. Should have industry knowledge of probable vendors of HVAC
